You Heard what on the TV!?
December 4, 2007 12:32 pm Commecials, Rants, TVAs I watch TV I like to keep a notebook and pen handy and write down things that make me think or laugh or seem in some way comment worthy. Strange habit, but leads to interesting outcomes. Here is a list of things that I heard this first weekend in Dec. Guess we could also say the first weekend in the last month of this year, but I won’t. Ok, here is this list:
- “We’re Texas Rangers! Our jurisdiction is where ever we happen to be”
This sounds familiar , kinda like the President of the USA G.W. Bush. You know what I’m saying….Oh yeah, Bush is from Texas….hmmmm
- “Made for all great companies, not just Great BIG companies.”
This one is from AT&T. It made me laugh. I can only imagine the look on the faces of the board members when they finally figured out that there is a whole other demographic that they could be throwing their marketing at! Great Scott! Give the man a raise who was willing to work with the small/mid-sized companies.
- “Every Kiss Begins With Kay”
We have all heard this over and over again. Seems we have all grown deaf to what the commercial jiggle is all about. Sounds like prostitution to me. You know like the old Whitey Ford lyrics “It’s money for tail”. Also reinforces what is so very very wrong in relationships: With-holding affection in exchange for goods or services. Now we have vetured beyond hookers and moved into blackmail. Honey no sex if you don’t mow the yard, BIG NOOKIE if you bring me shiny rocks. Wow, they snuck that slogan in right infront of our faces and you can even hear women singing it as they walk by the store in the mall with their men. This is some of very best in advertising. - “You just can’t do it on your own…YOU JUST CAN’T”
This horribly negitive comment was spoken by person on “Lipozene” commercial. Weight loss. Figures. The poor people who already have a beaten-low self-estem hear this kind of propoganda from the drug makers. Bah! You CAN’T do it on your own. I say you can do it on your own. They should be cheering you on to loose weight not telling you you Can Not do it alone. Now if you have a gland or chem imbalance then fine you need help and Can’t do it own your own, but the rest of back in line and start telling yourself YOU CAN. The Holidays are upon us and it is great time to start exercising your FREE WILL.
- “That Holiday was easy!”
Here is another one that really pisses me off. The slogan is from Staples office supply. Let us just take a moment to reflect on what a holiday is. I always looked forward to Holidays. They remind me of good family times, food, and relaxing. The whole point of a Holiday is Fun, right? Or am I missing something. For this writer every Holiday is Easy. So next time your having a hard time during the Holidays, I suggest you call up a Staples and ask them to make your Holiday Easy. That appears to be the market they have entered into.
The head has been filled with the filth of the world for today and will report back more when some has been digested or thrown-up.
