Dear MoveOn member,

Today, Michael Moore’s important new film, Capitalism: A Love Story is opening across the country.

On the 20th anniversary of his groundbreaking masterpiece Roger & Me, Moore returns to the issue he’s been examining throughout his career: the disastrous impact of corporate dominance on the everyday lives of Americans. But this time he’s not just going after General Motors.

We’ve seen the film, and it’s a devastating and illuminating look at how thoroughly corporate influence has penetrated our government at the expense of all of us. It provides an important perspective that we all need to consider as we head into the fight to rein in Wall Street.

Capitalism takes you deep into the latest crash on Wall Street, the subsequent bailouts, and the effect of both on regular, hard-working Americans.

Check out what people are saying about this film:

“No matter what side of the political fence you’re on or what you think of Moore as an activist and provocateur, a film that explores the economic meltdown and its historical roots is something most of us can get our heads around. Capitalism is impassioned, informative and entertaining…His rallying cry is simple: The country needs to return to its democratic roots.”—Claudia Puig, USA Today1

“Michael Moore’s Capitalism: A Love Story is a blistering, mad-as-hell indictment of everything in America that, according to Moore, has led to our current state of economic peril. The back-scratching greed and corruption, the cult of Wall Street as a casino for elites, the subprime mortgage vendors who operated like loan sharks: Moore pulls the big picture together…urgent, unsettling, and mischievously funny.”—Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly2

This is a political documentary that’s a lot of fun—and a movie that all of America needs to see. We really enjoyed it, and hope you do too.

Thanks for all you do.

You Heard what on the TV!?

As I watch TV I like to keep a notebook and pen handy and write down things that make me think or laugh or seem in some way comment worthy. Strange habit, but leads to interesting outcomes. Here is a list of things that I heard this first weekend in Dec. Guess we could also say the first weekend in the last month of this year, but I won’t. Ok, here is this list:

  • “We’re Texas Rangers! Our jurisdiction is where ever we happen to be”

This sounds familiar , kinda like the President of the USA G.W. Bush. You know what I’m saying….Oh yeah, Bush is from Texas….hmmmm

  • “Made for all great companies, not just Great BIG companies.”

This one is from AT&T. It made me laugh. I can only imagine Read the rest…
